Franck Komi Adjogble

Franck K. Adjogble is an adjunct professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and a faculty affiliate of the Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. He teaches Principles of Digital Twins in Materials Science and Advanced Manufacturing at CMU in Pittsburgh and CMU-Africa in Kigali. His teaching connects materials science, process modeling, industrial data, artificial intelligence, and digital-twin development.

His research interests include materials-centric digital twins, physics-informed materials intelligence, autonomous manufacturing, uncertainty-aware decision-making, and energy-efficient process optimization. His work focuses on connecting fundamental research and computational methods with industrial manufacturing systems, particularly in the metals industry.

Adjogble earned his Ph.D. in technology and innovation management from the University of Hagen, Germany, in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization. His academic work in Germany included research and teaching in technology intelligence, software engineering, digital transformation, and innovation management, as well as the supervision and mentoring of graduate students. He also holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Siegen.

Adjogble is director of process technologies and Digital Innovation at SMS group. Drawing on more than two decades of international experience in metals production, automation, process models, and digital technologies, he leads the development and industrial implementation of advanced process technologies, digital solutions, and AI-enabled manufacturing systems.
